India delivered another impressive performance on Day 7 of the Commonwealth Games 2026, adding more medals to its tally across athletics and boxing.
The biggest highlight of the day came in para-athletics, where Dilip Mahadu Gavit clinched a historic gold medal in the Men’s 100m T47 event, setting a new Commonwealth Games record. Mohammed Basil added to India’s success by winning silver in the same race, giving the country a memorable one-two finish.
In athletics, long jumper Murali Sreeshankar secured the silver medal with a best jump of 8.09 metres. He narrowly missed the gold by just six centimetres and became the first Indian athlete to win two Commonwealth Games medals in the men’s long jump.
India’s boxing team also enjoyed a remarkable day, with several boxers advancing to the semi-finals and guaranteeing at least 10 medals for the country. This marks one of India’s strongest-ever boxing performances at the Commonwealth Games.
By the end of Day 7, India had added one gold and two silver medals to its tally, while the assured boxing medals further strengthened the nation’s prospects for a successful finish to the Games.
