Tension escalated in Patna just hours before voting for the Bankipur Assembly by-election, with Jan Suraaj Party founder Prashant Kishor at the centre of a major political confrontation.
The standoff began after Kishor alleged that the Election Commission had failed to act against the alleged distribution of money to influence voters. He demanded immediate action and, along with his supporters, staged a protest outside a police station.
As the protest intensified, police personnel attempted to disperse the gathering, leading to heated exchanges between officers and Jan Suraaj workers. The confrontation created a high-voltage political atmosphere on the eve of polling.
Prashant Kishor accused the administration of ignoring complaints of electoral malpractice and questioned the fairness of the election process. Meanwhile, the administration maintained that law and order would be strictly enforced to ensure peaceful voting.
Despite the late-night political drama, authorities reiterated that polling arrangements remained in place and urged voters to participate peacefully in the democratic process.
