Hindu Man Attacked and Set on Fire in Bangladesh’s Shariatpur

In Shariatpur district’s Tiloi area of Bangladesh, a mob attacked a Hindu man, identified as 40-year-old Khokan Chandra Das, late Wednesday evening. Attackers stabbed him multiple times before pouring petrol and attempting to set him on fire.

The victim, who runs a pharmacy in the local Keurbhanga market, was returning home at around 9 p.m. when a group confronted him. After the stabbing and the attempt to ignite him, Chandra escaped severe harm by jumping into a nearby pond. He was later rescued by locals and taken to Shariatpur Sadar Hospital for treatment.AajTak

This incident comes amid a series of violence-related attacks against minorities in Bangladesh over the past few weeks. In a separate case on December 18, 2025, a Hindu youth named Dipu Chandra Das was lynched and his body set on fire after allegations of blasphemy—part of broader unrest recorded in the country.

At this time, authorities have not released an official statement on the motive or suspects in the Shariatpur attack. The incident remains under investigation by local law enforcement.

The attack has caused concern in the local community, and further updates will be published as more information becomes available
