South Delhi Industrialist’s daughter-in-law found dead; family alleges years of abuse, even during pregnancy

New Delhi — A 38-year-old woman married into an influential industrialist family was found dead in her Vasant Vihar home on Sunday, triggering shock and controversy. Although the initial police assessment points towards suicide, the woman’s family has accused her in-laws of long-term abuse and foul play.

According to investigators, the woman was found unresponsive inside her residence and later declared dead. Her family, however, maintains that she had repeatedly complained of harassment and isolation. Her mother alleged that the victim was “kept away from social gatherings” and that her emotional well-being had deteriorated over the years due to constant pressure at home.

In a disturbing allegation, the mother claimed that her daughter had suffered physical assault even during pregnancy. “She told me she was pushed, dragged and hit while she was expecting. No one should go through that,” she said, urging authorities to treat the case as more than a simple suicide.

Police recovered a personal diary from the house with emotional notes referencing “love” and “trust.” Officers said the entries may indicate stress or relationship issues but added that they are investigating all angles, including domestic violence.

The body has been sent for post-mortem examination, and police are examining CCTV footage, phone records, and digital evidence to reconstruct the events leading up to her death.

A senior officer said, “The allegations made by the family are serious. We are verifying claims of medical history, past complaints, and any evidence of harassment.”

The incident has sparked public concern about the hidden nature of domestic abuse — especially in affluent households where such issues often go unreported. Women’s rights groups have demanded a thorough and transparent probe.

The victim’s family has appealed to the government and law-enforcement agencies for justice, insisting that her death was not merely the result of personal distress but of a toxic and abusive environment.

The investigation is ongoing, and the police have assured that the final conclusion will be based on forensic evidence and factual findings.
