Ayurveda is no longer just about home remedies or lifestyle tips; it is fast-growing as a major part of global health services. PM Narendra Modi mentioned in a global summit that India is bringing its traditional medical knowledge worldwide with scientific backing and safety.
Is traditional medicine safe? This is a common question that comes to our minds. PM assured that India is actively working in this direction by combining tradition with modern research. According to him, India’s goal is clear: to make traditional medicine globally accepted and trusted. During his speech, he gave an example of ashwagandha that has been used in India for centuries and has major importance in traditional medicine practices. Today, it is gaining attention worldwide, especially among young people looking for natural ways to deal with stress, fatigue, and fast-paced lifestyles.

How does ashwagandha control stress in the body?
When a person is under stress, they release a stress hormone called cortisol. It is a natural hormone to help the body to cope with stressful situations, but due to continuous stress for a long period, cortisol levels stay high. High cortisol levels can lead to problems like anxiety, disturbed sleep, weak immunity, weight gain, and constant tiredness.
Ashwagandha helps by regulating the body’s stress system, known as the HPA axis (hypothalamic–pituitary–adrenal axis). It does not completely stop cortisol, but helps reduce excess cortisol when levels are too high; hence, the nervous system becomes calmer, the body shifts to a relaxed state, the sleep quality improves, and the mind feels less anxious and more stable
This helps the body to relax naturally; this is why it is also called an adaptogen (a natural herb that helps to manage stress).
