New Delhi: Sadhguru’s new photography book, Disappearing Faces, was launched on Monday at the India International Centre (IIC) in New Delhi. The book features photographs of people Sadhguru encountered during his journeys through some of the most remote Himalayan regions of Nepal and Tibet.
Published by Penguin India, Disappearing Faces is a unique collection of portraits captured during Sadhguru’s travels across the remote Himalayan landscape. Carrying a camera with him during these journeys, Sadhguru began photographing people whose faces had been shaped by a life close to nature and away from the rush of modern life.
The book was launched in the presence of Union Minister Mansukh Mandaviya. This was followed by a conversation between Sadhguru and author and commentator Anand Ranganathan, where they discussed the stories and experiences behind the photographs.
Speaking about the book, Sadhguru said, “These faces are a glimpse of a time that will soon disappear: faces marked only by the experience of light and darkness, warmth and cold, spring and winter—and above all, untouched by information that has nothing to do with our senses.” He added that these innocent faces reflect a life that may appear simple but is enriched by a deep experience of the land, air, water and people.
Sadhguru first travelled to Mansarovar and Mount Kailash in 2006 and has returned to the region several times since, while also guiding seekers undertaking pilgrimages to the Himalayas. Following his first motorcycle journey to Kailash in 2025, Sadhguru is set to return there by motorcycle again this year, continuing his unique relationship with the sacred Himalayan landscape.
The Himalayas have remained an important part of Sadhguru’s life for years, alongside his work focused on human wellbeing, raising human consciousness and ecological restoration.
