Prince Harry and Meghan Markle are reportedly preparing to move back to Britain with their two children, Prince Archie and Princess Lilibet, more than six years after stepping away from royal duties and relocating to the United States.
According to reports from People and The Daily Telegraph, the Duke and Duchess of Sussex are expected to return to the UK later this month for an extended stay. Their children are also expected to begin school in Britain in September.
Family To Establish Private UK Home
The Sussexes are expected to live in a private, non-royal residence rather than return to a royal property. Reports suggest the new home is outside London.
The family is also expected to retain its existing properties in Montecito, California, and Portugal, meaning the UK move does not necessarily indicate that they are permanently leaving the United States.
Harry and Meghan will continue to remain private, non-working members of the Royal Family. There are currently no plans for either of them to resume official royal duties.
Archie And Lilibet To Start School In Britain
A major factor behind the move is reportedly the children’s education. Archie, 7, and Lilibet, 5, are expected to begin attending school in the UK from September.
This would mark a significant change for the children, who have largely grown up in California since Harry and Meghan moved to the US in 2020.
King Charles Reportedly Informed About The Move
King Charles has reportedly been informed about the Sussexes’ plans. According to reports, the monarch welcomes the possibility of spending more private and personal time with his son, daughter-in-law and grandchildren.
The development follows a recent meeting between Harry and his father at Highgrove, during a family visit to Britain. The reunion was seen as a sign that relations between Harry and Charles may be improving after years of tension.
However, the reported move will not change Harry and Meghan’s status within the Royal Family. They will continue their lives as non-working royals and will not return to official royal responsibilities.
A Major Change After Six Years In California
Harry and Meghan moved to California after stepping back from their senior royal roles in 2020. Since then, they have built their lives and professional ventures in the US while maintaining a relatively limited presence in Britain.
Their reported return therefore marks a major shift for the Sussex family. While the couple are not returning to royal duties, establishing a UK base could allow them to spend more time with family and give Archie and Lilibet a closer connection to Britain.
The exact location of their new residence and details of the children’s school have not been publicly disclosed, citing privacy and security considerations.
